Thank you for all of your efforts this year. It is hard to believe that the last day of the 2011-2012 school year is upon us. Please know that you have all made a positive difference in the lives of children this year. I realize that these results come through your hard work.
We accomplished great things while all riding on the roller coaster of change.
- At the elementary level, we opened a new Memorial school and redistricted all of our elementary schools. We have a new standards-based report card. We expanded the resources for students in each school with full time librarians and school psychologists. All of this change was approached positively.
- At the middle school, teachers and students worked through a major building renovation without losing any focus on instruction. The project is ahead of schedule and will completed by the end of 2012.
- At the high school, we introduced a one to one learning environment. BHS never let technology outweigh instruction.
Again, thank you for all that you do every day. The children and families of Burlington are fortunate to have such dedicated professionals focused on improving the lives of their children.
If I do not see you, please have a restful and safe summer break. It is well deserved.
