Learning Walks with John Antonetti

We had our second visit from John Antonetti as we continue our training in the Learning Walk process. Most of the teachers who participated in the training along with some others walked classes at the high school, middle school, and one elementary school. The focus of the walks are on students, not teachers. A priority in Burlington is on the engaging qualities of the learning that is taking place.

The eight engaging qualities that research shows to have a positive impact on student achievement are as follows:

Personal Response
Clear/Modeled Expectations
Emotional/Intellectual Safety
Learning with Others
Sense of Audience
Choice
Novelty/Variety
Authenticity

John’s comments at the conclusion of the day.
