Guest Post: Burlington Integrated Preschool

The Burlington Integrated Preschool and the LABBB Collaborative Preschool will be hosting a combined open house on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 1:30 PM.  There are currently openings for the five-day and three-day per week morning programs as well as the afternoon program which is currently three afternoons per week.

The Open House will provide families with an opportunity to view the programs, to meet the teachers, and to pickup registration packets that will begin the enrollment process for next year.  Students must be three years old by August 31, 2009 to qualify for the programs.

Both the Burlington Integrated and LABBB preschools provide high quality programming for students with special needs as well as typically developing, neighborhood students.  All classrooms are comprised of 49% special needs and 51% neighborhood students.  Classroom enrollment is capped at fifteen and there are always three trained adults in each classroom including Massachusetts certified teachers, teaching assistants with bachelor’s degrees, as well as teachers’ aides.

In addition to our dedicated classroom staff, our programs also have the benefit of a speech and language pathologist and an occupational and physical therapist.  As a result, neighborhood students have the opportunity to participate in fine motor, gross motor and speech and language therapy sessions as well as their classroom activities.

All daily lessons are aligned with the Massachusetts State Standards and children are exposed to letters, colors, numbers and shapes in developmentally appropriate and meaningful ways.  Please refer to the preschool section of the Burlington web site for more specific information.

The open house will be held at the early childhood programs located at Burlington High School on 123 Cambridge St, we are located around the back of the building and the entrance can be found between the two early childhood playgrounds.   For more information call Laura at 781-270-1808.  Registration forms will be accepted for Fall 2009 starting January 30, 2009.
