I attended my first faculty meeting on Wednesday at Francis Wyman Elementary School. Thank you to principal Susan Astone for sharing this precious time. I appreciated the opportunity to speak with teachers in smaller groups and the teacher’s attention after a long day of teaching – thank you.
We discussed the three areas of focus for this year – 1) Instruction, 2) Technology, and 3) Communication.
We also spent some time discussing the school improvement process and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). High schools are required to be NEASC accredited. This accreditation is not state mandated for elementary and middle schools. Every school, however, is required to have a school improvement plan. Using a common NEASC process and language across all of our schools as the foundation of their individual school improvement plans only makes sense. We will be presenting the steps of the NEASC process to each school in the near future.
